Biography
Thiyagi N.G. Ramasamy (1912–1943) was a freedom fighter, philanthropist, and social reformer who dedicated his life to the cause of education and national progress.
He believed that education was not a privilege but a powerful instrument to uplift society and empower the youth.
Born in Coimbatore, N.G. Ramasamy grew up witnessing the struggles of common people during India’s independence movement. Inspired by the ideals of self-reliance and service, he actively participated in the freedom struggle and earned the honorific title “Thiyagi” (Martyr) for his contributions to the nation.
After independence, he channelled his efforts toward building institutions that could shape disciplined, responsible citizens.
With this vision, he established the Thiyagi N.G. Ramasamy Memorial Higher Secondary School, aiming to provide accessible, quality education to children from all backgrounds.
His commitment extended beyond academics — he emphasized values such as honesty, equality, and service to society.

The school was formally established on 3 October 1956, and the first classes commenced on 24 May 1959. Over the years, it has grown from humble beginnings into a reputed institution serving generations of students with dedication and distinction.

Starting with just a few classrooms and limited facilities, the school has developed into a fully equipped educational institution with modern infrastructure. Today, it stands as a proud example of how education can transform a community.
